What Is Wordineer

Wordineer is a language tool site that helps users expand their vocabulary with obscure words they may not know. In the age of AI, writing creativity has waned, and the use of AI writing tools has exploded.

The name "Wordineer" is a play on words, combining "Word" + "Engineer" to form "Wordineer."

This website is different from other word tool sites in that the words generated have built-in definitions, so users don't need to toggle between windows to check what the words mean.

Each generated word is tagged as a noun, adverb, verb, etc., helping users identify the word type if they forget.

How to Get the Most Out of It

Study the filters section. It's built in to help users pinpoint what type of word they want. Whether it's starting with a specific letter or a specific word type. My wife told me to add a feature that lets users filter by the last letter, so I added it to enhance the user experience.

Check the Word Lists page to see the complete list of tool pages for three-, four-, five-, six-, seven-, and eight-letter words. I've even added a Words Ending in page to help users browse words ending from A to Z.

Looking for words ending in "able" or "tion"? I've got you covered. Check the Words ending in a suffix page to see the complete list.

For Writing

If you're writing a thesis, article, or review, you could use this page to generate different types of words, like an adjective to describe someone or something. That's Wordineer's simplest use case. Generate anywhere from 1 to 50 words, then tap the space bar (or click Generate) to see the list. You could copy and paste the list for later use or print it out and stick it on your wall if you've hit a wall thinking of words to use.

For Students

Instead of using ChatGPT, try Wordineer to spark your creativity. AI generators may sound smart, but realize that these tools mostly generate robotic-sounding gibberish that doesn't have any soul. Students have to go back to the basics and learn the old-fashioned way.

But instead of opening a dictionary, Wordineer makes it easier to find the right words for essays, SAT prep, word games, etc. We need to bring back the joy of learning language and not rely too heavily on AI, because it is flawed in this aspect.

For Games (Like Pictionary)

Word games are fun, but finding the right words can be tedious. You'll search for words on Google and list them down. This site has a word game for that purpose called Pictionary Word Generator, where it generates words in batches for you.

It also has a built-in timer (30, 60, and 90 seconds). You could also print out these words if you prefer to play it the old-fashioned way.

Pictionary is just one example of the many word games available on this site. Check the Word Games page for the full list.

How to Use Filters

Six different filters, all designed to filter out words you specify.

Users can use the "copy" or "heart" icons to save words to a list below the word and filters section, then copy that list to a different application like Microsoft Word, or wherever they are writing from, so they have a place to store it.

Additionally, the words saved on the list stay there unless you delete your browser's cache.

No Duplicate Words

The tool is designed to show no duplicate words. Every word listed is unique, giving you the best user experience.

Definitions are Built-In

Users see not only the generated words but also their definitions and word type, giving them full context on how to use them. Most word generators I see don't list definitions, but only words, so users need to open a dictionary or Google the actual meaning of the word, especially difficult ones that aren't common.

Frequently asked questions

Which filters actually change the results the most?

Honestly, any filter will affect the list dramatically, but if there's one, it would be difficulty, since each word has a different difficulty marker. Play around with the filters to find the words you need, and if you notice a filter is missing, email me that suggestion.

How do I learn from the word after generating it?

The best way is to turn on the definitions filter and remember what that word means. It's easy to add a bunch of vocabulary to your mental list, but if you don't know how to properly use them or don't know what they mean, it would mean nothing. One tool I use to check my grammar is Grammarly because it flags every spelling error in an easy-to-track way. Regardless, every learner's goal is to master their language so they won't need these tools to write a masterpiece.

What's the fastest way to use this for writing?

The best way to use Wordineer is to play around with the filters. Do you need a random noun or verb? Set the "Word Type" filter to such. Or do you need words starting with K? Set the "First letter" filter to "K," so it spits out all the words in the database starting with "K."

How do I filter random words by length?

Check the "Letters" field in the "Words by Length" filter, click on the drop-down menu below it, and choose between any length, equals, at least, or at most, then type the corresponding length. I added many options to give you different ways of filtering words.

Does this word work for Pictionary?

Yes, just set the word type to "Nouns only" so the tool generates the specified nouns available. Better yet, visit the Pictionary Word Generator page to generate a list of words specifically curated for this game.
