How to run a trivia night

Good trivia nights run on pacing. Keep rounds to 10 questions, mix difficulties within each round, and give teams 10–15 seconds per question before moving on. Reading questions aloud while teams write answers — rather than shouting them out — prevents faster groups from dominating.

Use Host Mode for larger rooms — it displays questions in large text you can mirror to a TV or projector, and keyboard shortcuts (Space to reveal, → to advance) let you run the whole session hands-free.

Frequently asked questions

What modes does the trivia generator have?
Three modes: Flashcard (question then tap to reveal the answer), Quiz (4-choice multiple choice with a running score and 10-question rounds), and Host Mode (large text with keyboard navigation for trivia nights on a big screen).
How does quiz mode scoring work?
Quiz mode runs in 10-question rounds. Each correct answer scores one point. After 10 questions you see your total score and can start a new round with a fresh set of questions.
Can I filter by category?
Yes — choose from History, Geography, Science, Entertainment, Sports, Food, Words & Language, or General. You can also filter by difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard).
What is host mode?
Host mode switches to large text for projector or TV display. Use Space to reveal the answer and the right arrow key to advance — ideal for running trivia nights without touching the mouse.
Will questions repeat?
Questions won't repeat within a session. Once the entire filtered pool has been shown, it resets automatically.
