This is not the New York Times' official list, and it is not affiliated with NYT Games. After the 2022 acquisition the Times removed a small number of upcoming words. Third-party archives can disagree on a handful of early dates; we use the share-number convention and keep a changelog when a row is corrected.

Position matters. The most common letter in each slot is S _ A E E (S first, O second, A third, E fourth, E last).
